Ingredients

  • 6 oz pasta (e.g., shells, ditalini, orecchiette…)
  • 1/2 lb broccoli (boiled or steamed)
  • 3 oz bacon
  • 1 clove garlic
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • to taste Grana Padano cheese, grated (optional)

Steps

  • First, cook the broccoli, either by boiling or steaming.

In a skillet, pour a little oil and add a peeled garlic clove. Lightly sauté it and then remove, add the diced bacon to the skillet. Once it starts to sizzle, add the broccoli chopped into pieces. Season with salt and pepper, and let everything flavor for 2-3 minutes. You can also add chili pepper if you like.

Cook the pasta in plenty of salted water for the cooking time indicated on the package. Drain it and transfer it to the skillet with the sauce. Stir well to combine everything. Serve the pasta with broccoli and bacon while it’s still hot.

If desired, top with grated cheese or breadcrumbs toasted in a skillet.
