Breaded Squid in Air Fryer

Breaded squid in the air fryer is a tasty way to cook squid in the air fryer and they turn out crunchy and flavorful. Perfect as a main dish or appetizer. The recipe is very simple and made with fresh squid that is cut into rings and then mixed with flavored breadcrumbs, cherry tomatoes, and olives, a few minutes of cooking in the air fryer and the recipe is ready to be enjoyed. Whether it’s cuttlefish or stuffed mussels in the air fryer, I find it the perfect appliance for cooking fish and shellfish, or even for making fish appetizers in the air fryer.

How to bread squid in air fryer

  • Wash and dry the squid well. Place them on a cutting board and cut them into even rings, 0.6 inches thick. Distribute the squid in the tray, spray them with oil and mix. Wash the cherry tomatoes, if small leave them whole, otherwise cut them in half. Add them to the squid, along with the breadcrumbs and olives, and mix again.

  • Insert the tray into the air fryer basket and start cooking at 410°F for 8 minutes, making sure to shake the squid halfway through cooking.

Salt and serve the breaded squid hot, and enjoy your meal.

Rosella’s Tips

I recommend consuming the breaded squid immediately and avoiding reheating them, as they may become rubbery.

For the recipe to turn out well, it’s important that the air fryer temperature is high; the higher it is, the better the squid will turn out. If available, you can use 430°F. If your air fryer doesn’t go above 392°F, make sure you preheat it for 2 minutes at maximum power before inserting the squid.

Frozen and breaded squid in the air fryer

You can use frozen squid rings, defrosted and without the glaze; even in this case, they should be patted dry very well.
