Brussels Sprouts in Multicooker

Brussels sprouts in the multicooker are a great quick and healthy side dish. Like the potatoes with peas in the multicooker, this recipe also cooks in a few minutes, resulting in braised and gratinated Brussels sprouts in the instant pot. If you love cabbage cooked in the instant pot, try the cream of broccoli soup with instant pot or the pasta with cauliflower in pressure cooker. I know, I called the multicooker in 3 different ways (and we are at 4) but as I explain in the instant pot guide and in my multicooker book, we are talking about the same thing. For the steamed Brussels sprouts recipe in the instant pot, you just need to follow the first step of the recipe, let it rest for 5 minutes, and then open the pot. If you want to add more character, you can make braised Brussels sprouts in the multicooker and even gratin them. The choice is yours depending on how you want to enjoy Brussels sprouts.

Ingredients

  • 1.54 lbs Brussels sprouts
  • 0.85 cups water
  • 2 pinches salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Half teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons Grana Padano cheese, grated
  • 2 pinches black pepper

What You Need

  • 1 multicooker

Procedure

  • Wash the Brussels sprouts well and remove any stained or woody parts. Distribute them in the multicooker and add the water and salt.

Close the pot and cook with the pressure function for 8 minutes.

At the end of cooking, if you want to enjoy boiled Brussels sprouts, leave the pot closed for 10 minutes, then depressurize and open. Otherwise, depressurize immediately.

  • Drain the Brussels sprouts and redistribute them in the pot, add the rest of the ingredients. Mix and close the pot with the lid, leaving the valve open. Set the pot to oven function at 300°F and start cooking for 10 minutes. In this case, it is advisable to set an external timer.

  • If you have the oven lid or air fryer head, proceed as follows: place the Brussels sprouts in a small non-stick pan, season them. Insert a tall rack inside the pot, the microwave riser without plastic parts will do just fine. Place the pan with the Brussels sprouts on top and close the pan with the appropriate lid.

Start the lid-only cooking at 350°F and gratinate the Brussels sprouts for 10 minutes.

Extra Tips

Brussels sprouts in the multicooker pair very well with pork roast or accompanied by cheeses.
