Chicory in jar cooking is one of my jar-cooked side dishes that’s the easiest ever! Both in spring and autumn, I love cooking chicory because it’s tasty and healthy, and also a bit to vary from the usual microwave jar-cooked Spinach or Swiss Chard Parmesan in a jar.
After Chicory and beans in a pan and Chicory with potatoes in jar cooking, I decided to prepare a very simple and also light recipe to accompany your jar-cooked main courses and more!
With my Instructions for microwave jar cooking, you too can structure your weekly menu easily. You just need to take the jar you cooked in the previous days from the fridge, open it by heating it in the microwave, and enjoy in peace.

How to Prepare Chicory in Jar Cooking in the Microwave
Wash the chicory, remove the tougher stems and damaged leaves.
Dry the chicory with a clean towel and place it in a microwave-safe bowl.
Cover the bowl with microwave-safe plastic wrap.
Cook the chicory in the microwave at 800 W for 7 minutes.
Once cooked, transfer the chicory to a 1-liter jar with a thin seal.
Season the chicory as you prefer: I used extra virgin olive oil, one minced garlic clove, salt, and a piece of chili pepper for a spicy touch.
Clean the jar edges, close the jar with the lid and seal.
Seal the jar with the 4 clips and cook the chicory in jar cooking in the microwave at your tested power (I use 600W) for 9 minutes.
At the end of cooking, carefully take the chicory in jar cooking and let it rest for half an hour before opening and serving.
How to Store Chicory in Jar Cooking
Chicory in jar cooking can be stored for two weeks in the refrigerator thanks to vacuum sealing.
