  • 3 pinches salt
  • 200 ml water

What you need

  • 1 Microwave oven
  • 2 Jars 1 liter with thick seal

How to make corn on the cob in a jar

  • Clean the corn from the outer leaves and their filaments. Cut away the woody part at the base of the corn. Cut the corn in half.
Place 3 pieces in each jar, add salt, and 100 ml of water.

  • Clean the edges of the jars, close and clamp. Set the microwave to your tested power, I use 600 watts, place a jar inside and start cooking for 12 minutes. At the end of cooking, let the jar rest closed for at least 1 hour.
In the meantime, cook the other jar.

Now, your corn on the cob is ready, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week* or serve it immediately. In that case, simply unclamp and put the jar back in the microwave for about 5 minutes, until creating internal steam that will open the jar removing the vacuum.

Additional tips for corn on the cob in jar cooking

*I recommend consuming the corn within a week because a lot of air remains inside the jar, which does not guarantee an optimal vacuum.

How to season the corn

While still hot, season with small pieces of salted butter and pepper, and serve with crispy bacon slices. Or, season with melted butter in which you have put a chopped garlic clove and chopped herbs.
