Feta in Jar Cooking with Black Bread and Cherry Tomatoes

Feta in jar cooking with black bread and cherry tomatoes, cooks in 4 minutes in the microwave. Using the jar as if it were a pouch, we will enclose all the aromas and enhance the taste. Like the primosale in jar cooking and the ricotta in jar cooking, this recipe is also a good cheese-based second course. In the video and at the bottom of the recipe, you will find the version without bread, so we can use feta as a dressing for a first course, perhaps bulgur or quinoa.
This is an anti-waste recipe; when I have cheeses nearing expiration, I cook them in jar cooking and use the vacuum to keep them for another week. Or, when I open a package of feta, by making one of these recipes, I use half to make the feta in jar cooking.

Ingredients for making feta with bread in jar cooking

  • 2 slices rye bread (about 5.64 oz)
  • 8 cherry tomatoes
  • 7 oz feta
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 bunch aromatic herbs (thyme, fresh rosemary, basil)

What is needed for jar cooking?

  • 1 Microwave Oven
  • 2 Jars 500 ml with thin gasket
  • 1 Small Bowl

Preparation

  • Peel the garlic and chop it, put it in the small bowl and add the oil. Fry by placing it in the microwave, starting for just under two minutes at 750 watts. Cut the rye bread into cubes and toast it; this operation can be done in a pan or always in the microwave using the grill or Crisp function. Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half. Wash and break the aromatic herbs. Cut the feta cheese into cubes.

  • Distribute all the ingredients in the two jars in this sequence: bread, cherry tomatoes, aromatic herbs, and feta. Clean the rims of the jars, close, and latch them. Place the two jars in the microwave* and start at your tested power (I do at 600 watts) for 8 minutes. Given the variety of foods, the contents of the jars will start boiling by the 4th minute. At the end of cooking, remove the jars from the microwave and let them rest for about 20 minutes. The feta will finish melting, and a vacuum will form in the jar. The feta in jar cooking can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week. Although I recommend consuming it twenty minutes after cooking by pulling the jar seal. Alternatively, to open the jar and remove the vacuum, you can put it back in the microwave, starting at the same power used to cook, for about 3 minutes per jar.

I suggest making the feta without bread if you want to preserve the recipe because it will tend to get soggy.
