How to Prepare Grass Pea in Jar Cooking
Place the grass pea in a large bowl and add 1 1/4 cups of water to soak it.
Cover the bowl with microwave plastic wrap and make two small flower-shaped cuts on the wrap.
Place the bowl inside the microwave and run for 10 minutes at 600 W.
After 10 minutes, let it rest for 15 minutes inside the microwave, closed.
Finely chop the onion along with the celery and chili pepper.
Place the chopped onion, celery, and chili pepper in a small bowl and season with a tablespoon of oil.
Place the small bowl in the microwave and sauté for 1 minute at 800 watts.
Wash and cut the cherry tomatoes and set aside.
After the rehydration time of the grass pea, drain it from the soaking water and distribute it in the jar.
Add the sautéed mixture to the grass pea, along with the spinach cube, cherry tomatoes, and salt.
Add all the water.
Clean the rim of the jar, close, and lock.
Place the jar in the microwave and start the first cooking step for 8 minutes at tested power (I use 600 watts).
Using a cloth to protect your hands, shake the jar on a surface to mix the contents.
Place the jar again in the microwave and start the second cooking step for 4 minutes at reduced power, (I use 440 watts).
At the end of cooking, let the jar rest closed for 1 hour. In this way, the grass pea will finish cooking and a vacuum seal will form in the jar.
At this point, you can decide whether to serve the grass pea or store it in the refrigerator to preserve it.
How to Store Grass Pea in Jar Cooking in the Microwave
The grass pea in jar cooking can be stored in a sealed jar for two weeks in the refrigerator.
