Lasagna Carbonara in Mason Jar Cooking

The lasagna carbonara in microwave jar cooking is one of the best first courses in jar cooking, I would equate it to the bolognese lasagna in jar cooking, even though this time I dared to touch tradition, as in the recipe of amatriciana lasagna in jar cooking. If you love carbonara pasta, you must try the carbonara lasagna in a jar and you will be amazed by the result. I also won over my daughter who is the queen in preparing this great classic. I made this recipe in honor of carbonara day; every year I participate with my version and this time I wanted to dare with a lasagna with all the ingredients of carbonara. To start, I prepared a microwave cooked béchamel, as it cooled, I browned the guanciale in the microwave, which was also a pleasant discovery, and then I filled the béchamel with pecorino romano, guanciale, and egg yolks. I used everything to create the carbonara lasagna in jar cooking.

You just have to try them and let me know what you think. Don’t miss the video recipes on the Facebook page (HERE) and on the Instagram profile Dal tegame al vasetto (HERE).

Ingredients for making carbonara lasagna in a jar

  • 3 sheets thin egg lasagna
  • 1.25 cups béchamel
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 3 tablespoons pecorino romano (grated)
  • 5.29 oz guanciale
  • 3 pinches black pepper

What you need for jar cooking

  • 1 Microwave oven preferably with inverter technology
  • 2 Jars 500 ml with thin gasket
  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Microwave tray

How to make lasagna in jar cooking

  • Prepare the béchamel in the microwave as per the recipe, to cook 1.25 cups, reduce the cooking time to about 3 minutes. At the end of cooking, let it cool.

  • While the béchamel rests, distribute the diced guanciale in the heating tray (or Crisp), place the tray in the microwave and start at maximum power for about 5 minutes or until the guanciale is nicely browned. Set aside.

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of pecorino romano with the béchamel, also add the guanciale, keeping aside its fat, the yolks, and the pepper. Stir quickly.

With the guanciale fat, brush the bottom of the 2 jars. Cut the lasagna pasta into squares and insert one at the bottom of the jar. Distribute some carbonara béchamel over the lasagna, about half a tablespoon, and proceed with another layer of lasagna. Continue until you create 4 layers of lasagna, ending with béchamel and a little pecorino romano on top.

Clean the jar rim, close and latch.

  • Insert one jar of lasagna in the microwave and start cooking for 6 minutes at half power*, compared to the tested power, I at 300 W on 600 watts of tested power. Here you find the instructions on how to do jar cooking. While the first jar cooks, proceed with assembling the other jar of carbonara lasagna.

At the end of cooking, remove the jar from the microwave and cook the second jar. Let the closed jars rest for at least 20 minutes or until consumption.

  • During resting, in addition to finishing cooking, the jar will form a vacuum that will allow you to store the lasagna for 10 days in the refrigerator.

When you want to enjoy/serve the carbonara lasagna, take the jar out of the fridge and remove the clips. Insert the jar in the microwave and start first for 2-3 minutes with defrost function, to acclimatize the glass, after, restart at half power for 3 minutes.

Additional Tips

Unlike other jar cooking lasagna recipes, the carbonara lasagna in jar cooking recipe should be cooked at *half power due to the presence of egg, this way the egg will not curdle and it will be preserved for 10 days, precisely because the tested power was not used.
