Microwave roasted chicken and how to cook it perfectly. Some time ago I proposed the recipe for chicken and potatoes in the microwave, and as you can see in the picture, it lacked the golden and crispy crust. I have studied and learned a lot in the meantime, and I have figured out how to make many microwave recipes as if they were cooked on the stove or in the oven. I have learned to cook energy-efficiently and to maximize this appliance’s potential, often using helpful microwave accessories. For this recipe, I cooked chicken thighs and drumsticks in the microwave, with the skin on and using simple ingredients. In this roasted chicken recipe, you’ll find instructions for cooking it with different functions and the version if you don’t have this pot.
Now, let’s make the microwave roasted chicken-

Ingredients
- 28.22 oz chicken thighs (with drumsticks)
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 2 leaves sage
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp myrtle
- 3 pinches salt
- 2 pinches pepper
What You Need to Cook Chicken in the Microwave
- 1 Microwave Oven
- 1 Pot for microwave
Steps
To begin, remove any feather parts from the chicken pieces. Wash the herbs and peel the garlic cloves. Place the chicken pieces in the pot with the herbs, garlic cloves, and season with oil, salt, and pepper. Turn the chicken pieces to distribute the seasoning.
Moisten the chicken with liquor and close the pot with its lid. Place the pot in the microwave and start cooking for 15 minutes at 600 watts. After the first cooking, remove the lid, being careful of the steam, and turn the chicken pieces.
Remove the silicone handles, place the pot back in the microwave and start cooking, without the lid, for another 10 minutes with the combination function for 10 minutes. At this point, if your chicken has released too many liquids, you can remove them to have well-browned and crispy chicken, turn the chicken pieces, and continue for another 6-7 minutes. The microwave roasted chicken is ready to be served, good, golden, and perfectly cooked.
Additional Tips for Microwave Roasted Chicken
Instead of myrtle, which will release a great aroma to the chicken, you can substitute it with a little beer or wine.
Whole Roasted Chicken in the Microwave
You can follow the recipe and cook a small 2.2 lbs chicken, cooking it for 20 minutes with the microwave function, with the lid on. Then, proceed as in the recipe.
Roasted Chicken with Crisp
If you don’t have this pot, you can use the Crisp tray. In that case, proceed with the first cooking step at 800 watts, with the microwave function only.
