Microwave Tuna Meatballs

Microwave tuna meatballs are perfect to serve as a main course or as an appetizer. I love making MICROWAVE MEATBALLS, they are lighter, quicker, and you don’t have to watch over them while they cook. After trying eggplant microwave meatballs, vegetable microwave meatballs, today it was the turn for fish microwave meatballs. Two days ago I opened a large can of tuna and didn’t want it to go to waste, so after making tuna sauce in jar cooking to keep for 15 days, I thought of making meatballs. I looked at the air fryer and the microwave and between the two, I chose to update my microwave recipes with new content. This recipe for making microwave meatballs does not use Crisp and you will only need a heating tray and the microwave + grill combined function.

Ingredients for making tuna meatballs

  • 9 oz canned tuna (drained)
  • 1 egg
  • 2.5 oz whole wheat sandwich bread
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 3 tbsps breadcrumbs (seasoned)
  • 1 fresh spring onion
  • 1 tbsp salted capers
  • 2 sprigs lemon thyme
  • 2 pinches black pepper
  • extra virgin olive oil (spray)

What you need

  • 1 Microwave tray heating
  • 2 Bowls
  • 1 Oil sprayer
  • 1 Microwave riser

How to make meatballs in the microwave

  • To start, place the slices of bread in a bowl and pour the milk over them. Press them well with your hands to soak them thoroughly and set aside. Place the tuna in another bowl and mash it with a fork. Soak the capers in water.

  • Peel the spring onion, wash it, and slice it. Squeeze the capers and chop them coarsely. Add the chopped mixture to the tuna.

  • Crack the egg over the tuna, squeeze the sandwich bread, add breadcrumbs, thyme, and pepper.

  • Mix the ingredients with your hands until well combined. Spray the tray with oil and, with damp hands, form meatballs about 1 oz each. Place the meatballs on the greased tray; you will have about 15 meatballs. Spray a little oil on top.

  • Place the riser in the microwave, place the tray on top, and cook the tuna meatballs in the microwave for 12 minutes using the microwave + grill combined function. Serve the tuna meatballs hot and enjoy!

Microwave cooked tuna meatballs are excellent when served immediately and hot. If you have leftovers, serve them the next day on a bed of MICROWAVE COOKED TOMATO SAUCE.

Variations for making fish meatballs in the microwave
