How to Make Peppers with Tuna in Jar Cooking

  • Wash and dry the bell pepper. Cut it into regular pieces, removing the membranes and stem. Slice the onion. Distribute everything in a bowl, season with oil, mix and soften in the microwave for 3 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, desalinate the capers under running water, chop the olives into pieces and drain the tuna. Season the peppers with these ingredients, aromatize with chopped parsley and mix. Place the softened peppers in the jar, clean the edges, close and latch.

  • Set the microwave to your tested power, I use 600 watts, insert the jar with peppers and tuna and start cooking for 6 minutes. At the end of cooking, remove the jar from the microwave and let it rest, without opening, for at least 20 minutes. This way, the recipe will finish cooking and the vacuum will form. Now your peppers and tuna in jar cooking are ready.

Once they are at room temperature, you can store them in the fridge or enjoy them. To easily open the jar, just unlatch it, put it in the microwave and start at the same power for about 3 minutes. The steam pressure will gently open the lid.

Extra Tips for Peppers with Tuna in a Jar in the Microwave

You can add an anchovy to the peppers, in this case, omit the salt. You can double the doses and cook in a 1-liter jar. In this case, the cooking times should be doubled.

If you prefer, you can avoid softening the peppers and put them directly raw in the jar. In this way, a little less will fit.
