RECOMMENDATION: it is advised to use only organic apples, as apples are one of the fruits most heavily treated with pesticides.
- 1 apple (I use organic red delicious)
- 1 teaspoon sugar (white or whole, or maple syrup or honey – can be omitted)
- 1 tablespoon Water (or orange juice or white wine)
- to taste lemon zest (or orange zest – or a piece of organic peel to place inside the apple)
- 1 pinch ground cinnamon (or a stick to place inside the apple)
- 1 clove (whole or crushed)
- 1 pinch dried mint
- 1 sprig rosemary
- 1 pinch vanilla
- 1 pinch ground ginger
Tools
- Corer
Baked Apples
Wash the apples well, then, with a knife, remove the stem and core from the central cavities. Alternatively, use an apple corer to remove the inside.
Place the apple in an appropriately sized baking dish (single serving). Pour a tablespoon of water (or orange juice or wine) on the bottom. Finally, sprinkle each apple with sugar (optional) and the chosen aroma (I really like to add cinnamon and/or clove).
To make these baked apples more indulgent, before baking, add a piece of butter (soy for vegans) along with the other ingredients.
BAKE until the skin begins to peel off:
– in static oven already preheated to 350°F for about 25 minutes
– in ventilated oven at 320°F for about 20 minutes– in air fryer at 350°F for about 15 minutes
– in the microwave at maximum power for about 5 minutes
(if necessary, continue cooking at intervals of 1-2 minutes)
Cooking time may slightly vary based on the size of the apples, so it is helpful to check the consistency with a fork.
Once cooked, to keep them warm, leave them inside the turned-off oven.
Serve the whole baked apples warm, drizzling with the syrup from the bottom.
Delicious even when cold.
