If you want to serve a delicious and unique first course, don’t miss the recipe for these baked tortellini. I assure you that bringing this dish to the table will be impressive. Yet they are very easy to prepare. Besides being tasty, their success also lies in the element of surprise. Used to the classic baked pasta, no one expects to find stuffed tortellini under that tasty crust. I experienced this surprise effect with another recipe, the tortellini strudel. It was also a great success. So, I can only recommend trying both.

Ingredients for Baked Tortellini
I used ready-made tortellini with a prosciutto filling.
- 18 oz tortellini
- 14 oz meat sauce
- 1 cup béchamel sauce
- 3 oz gouda cheese (or scamorza cheese)
- 0.7 oz Grana Padano cheese, grated (or Parmesan)
- salt
Tools
- 1 Pot
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Grater with large holes
- 1 Baking dish
Preparation of Baked Tortellini
First, prepare the meat sauce following the recipe found HERE. You’ll need 400 g. If you prefer, you can use your family recipe.
Then prepare the béchamel sauce following the recipe described HERE.
In a pot, bring plenty of salted water to a boil. When it boils, drop in the tortellini and drain them very al dente. Check the cooking time of your tortellini. For example, mine are ready in just two minutes, so I cooked them for just one minute and immediately drained them.
Place the meat sauce in a large bowl, add the béchamel sauce, and mix to incorporate it perfectly into the sauce.
Cut the cheese into julienne: I used gouda, but scamorza or fontina is also great.
Then add it to the sauce and mix well.
Also, add the tortellini and mix them perfectly into the mixture until they are completely covered with the sauce.
At this point, transfer them to a previously buttered baking dish.
Finally, sprinkle the entire surface with the grated cheese.
Place the baking dish in a preheated static oven at 356°F (180°C) for 10 minutes, then switch to grill mode and continue cooking for a few minutes until the surface is golden.
Serve the baked tortellini directly from the baking dish and enjoy them hot. Enjoy! Paola
