Blackberry Mocktail

This blackberry mocktail is a non-alcoholic drink that immediately captivates with its color. It is fresh, fragrant, and surprisingly simple to prepare. The tangy touch of blackberries and the fizz of tonic water make it extremely pleasant, sip after sip. When to drink it? It is ideal for a summer aperitif or a snack with friends or simply to indulge in something different from the usual commercial drink. Prepare the glasses, add a few ice cubes, decorate as desired, and let this mocktail refresh you.

Blackberry Mocktail
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Affordable
  • Preparation time: 10 Minutes
  • Portions: 4 people
  • Cooking methods: Stovetop
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Summer

Ingredients for the Blackberry Mocktail

  • 9 oz blackberries
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 1/3 cups tonic water
  • Juice of half a lime
  • ice

Tools

  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Fine mesh strainer
  • 1 Pestle
  • 1 Citrus juicer
  • 1 Pitcher

Preparation of the Blackberry Mocktail

  • Wash the blackberries, then put them in a saucepan and add the brown sugar.

  • Place over medium-low heat and cook for 6/7 minutes, stirring often. By the end of cooking, the blackberries should be very soft, practically mushy. Turn off the heat and let it cool slightly.

  • At this point, strain everything through a fine mesh strainer. I recommend pressing the blackberries well with a pestle or a spoon to extract all the liquid.

  • Then pour the first 3/4 cup of cold water over these mashed blackberries: this way the water will gather all the last remnants of juice.

  • Transfer this liquid into a pitcher and also add the juice of half a lime.

  • Finally, add the remaining water (2 cups) and the tonic water.

  • Stir and place the blackberry mocktail in the refrigerator for a few hours. When serving, add ice cubes. Enjoy! Paola.
