Ingredients for the fennel gratin in the air fryer

You can adjust the garlic, paprika, salt and pepper to taste.

  • 2 fennel bulbs
  • paprika
  • garlic powder
  • 1.41 oz Grana Padano, grated (or Parmesan)
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 3/4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Air fryer

Preparation of the fennel gratin in the air fryer

  • Trim the fennel of the stalks and part of the base. Wash, pat dry with kitchen paper and cut into wedges.

  • Transfer them to a bowl and season with salt, black pepper, paprika and garlic powder. As I mentioned before the ingredients list, you can adjust these to taste.

  • Then sprinkle with about 1.06 oz (30 g) of grated cheese and about 3 tbsp (20 g) of breadcrumbs, then drizzle with the olive oil.

  • Gently toss so the seasoning is evenly distributed over all the wedges.

  • Once the air fryer is preheated, place a sheet of perforated parchment paper in the basket and arrange all the wedges on it, trying not to overlap them.

  • Cook the fennel at 338°F for 20–25 minutes. Halfway through cooking, pull out the basket and gently turn the wedges. Sprinkle them with the remaining grated cheese (about 0.35 oz / 10 g) and the remaining breadcrumbs (about 1 tbsp / 10 g) and, if you like, dust again with a pinch of paprika. Put the basket back in the air fryer and finish cooking.

  • Finally, transfer the air-fried fennel gratin to the serving plate and serve immediately, nicely golden and crispy. Enjoy! Paola.
