Ingredients for 7 Ham and Cheese Buns
Self-raising flour is flour that already has perfectly dosed yeast. It is available in all supermarkets.
With these quantities, you can prepare 7 ham and cheese buns.
- 2 1/2 cups self-raising flour
- 3/4 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter
- 6 tbsp water
- 6 tbsp milk
- 3.5 oz cooked ham
- 3.5 oz scamorza (or fontina)
Tools
To prepare the dough for these buns, I used a stand mixer, but any other mixer will do. You can also knead everything by hand, working the ingredients first in a bowl and then on the countertop.
- Stand mixer
- Mezzaluna
- 1 Baking tray
Preparation of Ham and Cheese Buns
Coarsely chop the cooked ham and scamorza and set them aside. You can do this in a mixer, being careful not to turn them into a sort of pâté. Alternatively, you can use a mezzaluna, as I did.
Place the flour, cold butter cut into pieces, salt, sugar, water, and milk in the bowl of a stand mixer and start kneading with the dough hook.
When the mixture has compacted, add the chopped ham and cheese and continue kneading until all ingredients are well combined into a homogeneous and elastic dough.
Transfer it to a lightly floured countertop and divide it into seven pieces, each weighing about 3.5 oz.
Shape each piece into a ball and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake the ham and cheese buns in a preheated static oven at 356°F for 30/35 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy! Paola
