Have you eaten too much and now there’s a weight on your stomach? I have a very simple remedy to suggest: a delicious homemade digestive herbal tea made with ginger, fennel seeds, lemon balm, chamomile, and licorice. It is easy to prepare and really achieves the desired effect because all the ingredients used are extremely effective due to their digestive properties. Moreover, it is delicious and fragrant. In short, a treat that doesn’t even need sweetening. I made it following the advice of my naturopath friend Valentina, whom I often consult because I’m incredibly fascinated by her amazing knowledge. Thanks, Vale!

Ingredients for Homemade Digestive Herbal Tea
These quantities make 2 cups of tea.
- 2 cups water
- fresh ginger (5/7 g peeled)
- Half teaspoon fennel seeds
- Half teaspoon lemon balm
- Half teaspoon licorice root
- Half teaspoon chamomile flowers
Tools
- 1 Small pot with lid
- 1 Strainer
Preparation of Homemade Digestive Herbal Tea
Peel the ginger root and cut it into pieces.
In a small pot, put the water along with the ginger, fennel seeds, and pieces of licorice root (cold).
Cover, place on the stove, and bring to a boil. Let it boil for 4/5 minutes with the lid on to retain the essential oils.
After this time, turn off the heat and add the lemon balm and chamomile.
Cover again and let it steep for 10 minutes.
After the resting time, strain everything through a fine mesh strainer, pressing the herbs slightly so they release all the water absorbed, rich in active principles. Drink the tea hot. Enjoy! Paola
