Along with velvety soups and hot chocolate, this honey-cooked fruit represents my idea of autumn-winter comfort food. Enjoyed warm while reading a good book by the fireplace… mmmm. Priceless! Not to mention how easy and quick it is to prepare. In short, a super quick dessert that we can enjoy without too many guilty thoughts.

Ingredients for honey-cooked fruit
Above I specified that these quantities are sufficient for 3 people. Let’s clarify… 3 people satisfied with a small bowl each. You should know that I could have devoured the whole thing myself. How greedy!
For the preparation of this recipe, I used three pears and an apple. Of course, you can use only pears or only apples.
- 3 Kaiser pears
- 1 apple
- 2 tbsps honey
- 1/2 cup water
- ground cinnamon
Tools
- 1 Pan
Preparation of honey-cooked fruit
Wash the fruit, peel it, and cut it into chunks.
Pour the water into a pan, add the honey, and heat slightly.
Then add the fruit pieces, dust them with half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon and continue cooking over medium-low heat for 8/10 minutes. Watch them! The fruit will be ready when it becomes soft yet still slightly crunchy. We don’t want to turn it into a puree.
Transfer the honey-cooked fruit into individual bowls and sprinkle with more cinnamon before serving. It is excellent both warm and at room temperature. It’s probably delicious cold too, but I have never managed to let it cool. I usually prepare it and enjoy it right away, nice and hot. So all I have left to say is: Enjoy! Paola
