What can I say! After the candied orange peels that were a huge success, I experimented with making these mint candies that are somewhat similar in appearance but completely different in taste. I even used the same plate for the photo and a similar setup. But back to the recipe, I can tell you right away that they are delightfully chewy, very easy to make, and can be prepared in just a few minutes. Do you hate gelatin? So do I! Yet here it didn’t cause me any problems. As for their deliciousness, it’s closely related to how much you like mint. I’m crazy about it. I also love it in desserts, and below I’ll share some interesting links. These gelatin candies are also perfect as gifts since they keep well for quite a while. Put them in a clear bag, tie with a nice ribbon, and you’re done.

  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Container with lid (5.5 x 5.5 in)
  • Parchment paper
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Knife

Preparation of Mint Candies

  • First, soak the gelatin sheets in cold water.

  • Prepare a container by lining it with parchment paper.

  • While the gelatin is softening, put the sugar in a saucepan.

Then add the mint syrup and two teaspoons of lemon juice.

  • Mix well to combine all the ingredients.

  • Heat over very low heat.

  • When the sugar has completely dissolved, squeeze the gelatin and add it to the mixture.

  • Stir well until the gelatin has completely melted and is perfectly incorporated with the other ingredients.

  • Finally, pour the obtained mixture into the previously prepared container, trying to distribute it evenly over the entire bottom.

  • Let it cool at room temperature, then transfer to the refrigerator for at least a day.

  • After the resting time in the fridge, gently detach the green gelatin block from the parchment paper using the tip of a knife.

  • Sprinkle a cutting board with granulated sugar and overturn the block onto it; then dust it with more sugar.

  • Now cut it into strips.

  • Finally, cut each strip into pieces of the desired size and roll them in sugar to coat all sides.

  • Arrange the mint candies on a tray or serving plate as you go.

They are ready to be enjoyed. I stored them in a tin box lined with parchment paper. Enjoy! Paola
