No-rise Breadsticks

If you love kneading dough but can’t stand the idea of having to adhere to the long times that yeast inevitably requires, here’s a recipe for you. These are delicious no-rise breadsticks that are quick to prepare and quick to finish. They are crispy, and the sesame seeds make them really tasty. They are perfect as a bread substitute and also great served as an appetizer, perhaps wrapped in slices of prosciutto. Try it to believe it!

Ingredients for the no-rise breadsticks

In this recipe, I used black and white sesame seeds. If you can’t find black seeds, you can use all white sesame. However, if you wish to buy them, you can find them by clicking HERE.

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp instant yeast for savory preparations
  • 6 3/4 tbsp water
  • 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp black sesame seeds
  • 2 tsp white sesame seeds

Tools

I prepared the dough for these no-rise breadsticks with the stand mixer, but you can use any other mixer, and you can also knead by hand by mixing the ingredients first in a bowl and then on the work surface.

  • Stand Mixer
  • Hand Whisk
  • 1 Baking Sheet

Preparation of the no-rise breadsticks

  • Put the flour, instant yeast, and black and white sesame seeds in the stand mixer bowl and mix with a small hand whisk. However, if you wish to buy them, you can find them by clicking HERE.

  • Add the water and oil and start kneading with the dough hook.

  • When the mixture has compacted, add the salt and continue kneading until a smooth and homogeneous dough is obtained that is not sticky.

  • Transfer it onto the work surface, knead it for a few moments with your hands, form a cylinder, and cut it into pieces.

  • Work each piece with your hands to form small loaves. You can make the breadsticks the length you prefer.

  • Arrange the breadsticks gradually on the baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Bake the no-rise breadsticks in a preheated convection oven at 356°F (180°C) for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before enjoying. Enjoy! Paola
