I called it orange water cake because it is a delicate ring cake made with water and orange juice. It contains no butter, milk, or eggs, and it is incredibly soft. You don’t even need electric beaters because everything is mixed in a bowl with a small hand whisk. A cake that is prepared in a few steps, delicious and perfect for breakfast and snack.

Ingredients for the Orange Water Cake
This recipe uses orange zest, so it’s absolutely necessary to use organic, untreated citrus fruits. Remember that the skin of regular oranges is not edible.
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 7/8 cup water
- 7/8 cup orange juice (about 2 oranges)
- 3/8 cup vegetable oil
- zest of one orange
- 1 packet baking powder
Tools
- Zester for citrus
- Citrus Juicer
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Hand Whisk
- 1 Sieve fine-mesh
- 1 Bundt Pan 22/24 cm diameter
Preparation of the Orange Water Cake
First, zest one orange using a citrus zester; then juice 2 oranges to obtain 200 ml.
Mix the flour with the baking powder.
Pour the warm water into a large bowl, add the sugar, and mix with a small hand whisk until it is completely dissolved.
Then add the orange juice and oil, and mix again carefully.
Gradually add the dry ingredients by sifting them through a fine-mesh sieve and incorporate them with the whisk.
Finally, add the orange zest and mix everything very well: you should get a smooth, lump-free mixture.
Pour the batter into a previously buttered and floured 22/24 cm diameter bundt pan. If you are interested in the pan I used, you can buy it by clicking HERE.
Bake the orange water cake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for 40 minutes. Do the toothpick test to check if it is cooked: inserted in the center of the cake, it should come out dry and clean. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely before removing it from the pan and transferring it to a serving dish. Dust the surface with powdered sugar before serving. Enjoy! Paola
