Ok ok… if you’re on a diet, maybe it’s not a good idea to read the recipe for this fantastic polka dot chocolate salami. Although, objectively, a slice can be eaten. I don’t believe anyone would eat it all by themselves. It’s a really delicious and incredibly tempting dessert. It doesn’t contain eggs and requires no baking. You can prepare it in advance and store it in the freezer until serving. Perfect for a children’s party too.

Ingredients for Polka Dot Chocolate Salami
If kneading by hand, use powdered sugar.
- 7 oz dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups plain cookies
- 1/3 cup hazelnuts
- 1/3 cup milk
- 2 tsp marsala (or rum)
- 4 oz chocolate candies (smarties or M&Ms)
Tools
I prepared this polka dot chocolate salami with the Thermomix, but you can easily make it by hand. Just mix the ingredients in a bowl following the same sequence as the Thermomix method.
- 1 Mixer Thermomix
- 1 Spatula
- 1 Knife
- Parchment paper
Preparing the Polka Dot Chocolate Salami
Chop the chocolate into flakes with a knife.
Coarsely break the plain cookies.
Melt the butter in a double boiler or microwave and let it cool slightly.
Coarsely chop the hazelnuts.
Place the sugar in the bowl and powder it (10 sec. speed 9).
Add the warm butter and mix (7 sec. speed 6).
Then add the cocoa and chocolate flakes and knead (10 sec. speed 5).
At this point add the milk, liquor, cookies, and hazelnuts to the bowl and knead (15 sec. speed 3, reverse). If making it for children, you can omit the Marsala.
Finally, add 3 oz of chocolate candies and mix into the dough (15 sec. speed 2, reverse)
Transfer the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper and shape it into a salami with the help of the paper.
Finally, distribute the remaining chocolate candies on the surface, ensuring they adhere well. I placed some flat and inserted others vertically into the dough.
Wrap the polka dot chocolate salami in the parchment paper and store it in the freezer for at least four hours before enjoying it. Enjoy! Paola
