Ingredients for Potatoes with Milk in a Pan
- 1.1 lbs potatoes (net weight)
- 1.4 tbsp butter
- 1 cup milk
- to taste nutmeg
- 1 sprig parsley
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
Tools
- Potato Peeler
- 1 Pan with lid
Preparation of Potatoes with Milk in a Pan
Peel the potatoes, wash them, pat them dry with kitchen paper, and cut them into chunks.
In a pan, melt the butter before adding the potatoes.
Season them with a couple of pinches of salt, a generous grind of black pepper, and a grating of nutmeg, and brown them over high heat for 2/3 minutes, stirring often.
Then pour the milk (warm or at room temperature) into the pan, lower the heat, put the lid on, and cook for about ten minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove the lid and continue cooking for another 7/8 minutes until the milk is absorbed and the potatoes are tender. Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the type of potatoes and the size of the pieces. Check by piercing them with a fork.
Once cooked, sprinkle with finely chopped parsley and turn off the heat.
Serve the potatoes with freshly ground black pepper. Enjoy! Paola
If you want to prepare them a little in advance, I suggest cooking them halfway (until the lid is kept on, to be clear). Complete the rest at the last moment.
