Ingredients for Puff Pastry Savory Snacks
As mentioned in the introduction, this article shows you how to prepare two different types of very simple savory snacks.
Each roll of puff pastry makes 14 snacks.
- 2 rolls puff pastry (rectangular)
- mustard
- 14 mini sausages (small ones)
- A few slices cooked ham (or speck)
- Grated Grana Padano (or Parmesan)
- sesame seeds
Tools
- 1 Fluted pastry wheel
- Rolling pin
Preparation of Puff Pastry Savory Snacks
Unroll the rectangle of puff pastry, keeping it on the baking paper provided in the package, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and roll over it with a rolling pin to make them adhere well to the pastry.
Then cover with another sheet of baking paper and, with a swift motion, flip the puff pastry rectangle over so that the side with the seeds is facing down.
At this point, using a fluted pastry wheel, cut the rectangle as shown in the photograph to obtain 14 strips.
Spread a thin layer of mustard on each strip. If you don’t like mustard, you can skip it.
Place the mini sausage at the end of the strip and roll. Voilá! As you can see, each strip yields two snacks.
Place the puff pastry savory snacks on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, keeping them slightly apart from each other.
Cut the cooked ham slices into strips: each slice yields about four strips.
Place a strip of cooked ham on a strip of puff pastry and sprinkle with a pinch of grated cheese.
Again, roll to form small cylinders and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake the puff pastry savory snacks in a preheated static oven at 356°F (180°C) for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. You will need to bake them in two batches. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy! Paola
