Simple Christmas Cookies

These simple Christmas cookies are perfect to make with children while waiting for Christmas. The dough is easy to handle and non-sticky, so even the little ones will enjoy cutting out many cookies in different shapes. The touch of chocolate sprinkles inside the dough makes them scenic and special in their simplicity.

Simple Christmas Cookies
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Rest time: 1 Hour
  • Preparation time: 40 Minutes
  • Portions: about 50 cookies
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: Christmas

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 pinches salt
  • 2/3 cup butter (cold)
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup chocolate sprinkles

Steps

  • To make the simple Christmas cookies, put the flour, sugar, salt, and cold butter cubes in the mixer. Blend for a few seconds until you get a sandy mixture, then add the egg yolk and blend again until the dough takes shape.

Transfer to the work surface, sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles, and knead briefly to distribute the sprinkles within the dough. Form a brick with the dough, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for an hour.

  • After the resting time, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (static) if baking one tray at a time or 320 degrees Fahrenheit (fan) if baking multiple trays at once.

  • Cut the dough in half and roll it out on a floured surface to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

Cut out many cookies with your favorite cookie cutters and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges start to turn golden.

Remove your simple Christmas cookies from the oven, let them cool, and store them in an airtight container.
