Apple Crumble

A crumbly shortcrust that perfectly embraces the taste of apples. The apple crumble captivates bite after bite. At my house, it always disappears in an instant. Easy to make and incredibly quick to devour. The apple crumble is great at any time of the day.

Let’s start baking…

  • Rest time: 30 Minutes
  • Preparation time: 5 Minutes
  • Cooking methods: Oven
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients for the shortcrust

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (I use spelt)
  • 1/3 cup toasted almonds (To be chopped)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 5 1/2 tbsp butter (Soft)
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 Fuji apples
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 1 1/2 tbsp granulated sugar

Tools

I used a 8×8 inch square pan

Steps

  • In a bowl, work the sugar and the softened butter until you create a cream, also add the egg and mix together.

Add the flour, the previously chopped almonds, and the baking powder. Knead roughly until forming large crumbs, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes.

  • Meanwhile, peel the apples and cut into small cubes, add the sugar and the lemon juice, mix and cook for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  • Line the pan with wet and well-squeezed parchment paper, lay the crumbs of the shortcrust and press the dough toward the bottom, place the apples and cover with the dough, roughly.

  • Bake at 356°F in a preheated static oven for 30 minutes.
