Bread homemade…for those who love cooking, there is no greater satisfaction than preparing this wonder. The aroma that fills the kitchen is something magical and unforgettable! Today I propose a very simple recipe that will give you an excellent result. You will only need a few ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry – flour, water, yeast, and salt – to obtain a crunchy and tasty loaf. This recipe will show you that making bread is not complicated at all: with a little patience and hands-on dough, it’s a piece of cake.

Ingredients for Bread

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 2/3 cups remilled durum wheat semolina flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 2 tsp fine salt

If you prefer, you can use a stand mixer, but I kneaded everything by hand. The only precaution, in both cases, is to work the dough well for about 5 minutes before letting it rise.

Steps for Bread

  • In a large bowl, pour the flours and mix well to combine.
    Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water and start pouring the liquid slowly into the bowl with the flours.
    Work the dough first with a fork until no longer possible, then continue with your hands.

    When all the liquid has been absorbed, add the salt. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface with semolina and knead well until you create a smooth and compact dough.
    Place the obtained dough inside the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise inside the oven with the light on. This step is very important, don’t forget! Let it rise for about 3 hours, but if you have more time, leave it to rest even longer.

    After the rising time, transfer the dough to a floured surface and slightly work it, creating folds from the sides towards the center.
    Create an oval shape and place it inside a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Using a sharp knife, make a lateral cut on the surface.

  • Bake the loaf in a preheated static oven at 430°F, placing it on the lower part of the oven. Let it bake for 35-40 minutes.

Storage

Bread keeps for several days inside a paper bag.
