Christmas Ball Cookies

The Christmas Ball Cookies are a fun and cute idea, perfect to present on the table during the festive days.
They are very simple cookies, to which we will add a bit of food coloring. You can find all kinds at the supermarket (gel, powder, vegetable), but beware: for this recipe, liquid colorings usually used for creams are not suitable because they don’t color the dough enough.
You can have fun creating these delicious balls using the color you prefer! I chose blue, green, and red. I decided to keep the colors soft, not too bright, but if you prefer more intense shades, just increase the amount of food coloring.
But now, enough talking: let’s start baking!

Ingredients for Christmas Ball Cookies.

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (I used spelt flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 3 1/2 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • as needed powdered sugar (For coating)

Steps for Christmas Ball Cookies

  • Work the egg with the sugar. Add the oil and milk.
Start incorporating the flour (previously sifted) and the baking powder.
When the dough is well mixed but not yet compact, divide it into three parts and place each part in different bowls.
At this point, add the coloring to each dough and knead until the color is uniform (it will take a few minutes).

Once this operation is finished, create the balls and then roll them in powdered sugar.
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 350°F in a preheated static oven for 13-15 minutes. The cookies should be slightly crispy on the outside and very soft inside.

  • The Christmas Ball Cookies are ready to be enjoyed!
