Ingredients for the Christmas Tart with Pastry Cream

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 vanilla
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 2 eggs

Tools

I used a pan with a diameter of 9.5-10 inches

Steps for the Christmas Tart with Pastry Cream

  • First, prepare the pastry cream, which will need to cool. I chose Benedetta’s practical microwave method:
I mixed the eggs with sugar and cornstarch, then added the milk.
I stirred with a hand whisk and put it in the microwave (800 watts) for 4 minutes. After this time, I took the bowl, stirred and put it back in the microwave for another 3 minutes (800 watts).
If you don’t have a microwave, you can use the traditional stovetop method.

    🥧 Preparing the Shortcrust Pastry

Pour the sugar and butter into a bowl and work with a fork until it becomes creamy.
Add the egg, vanilla, baking powder, and flour gradually. Work with a fork as long as possible.
Then start kneading with your hands. Work the dough as quickly as possible until it is compact.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour.

    🌟 Christmas Assembly

After the time has passed, take the dough and divide it in two.
Roll out the first dough and place it in the mold (buttered and floured or lined with parchment paper).
Pour the cold pastry cream inside and add the chocolate chips on top.
Roll out the other dough and cut out many trees (or the Christmas shape you prefer) with a cookie cutter.
Place the trees on top of the cream and chocolate. I arranged them in a rotation until they covered the entire surface!

  • Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a preheated static oven for 35-40 minutes.
If using a convection oven, bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
Let it cool completely in the mold before removing it.
Your super delicious tart is ready to be enjoyed!
