It’s the ideal solution for a tasty, wholesome snack made with just a few ingredients we all have in the pantry.

Ingredients for creamy cocoa hot chocolate

If you’d like to make this for two people, just double everything (about 13.5 fl oz / 1 2/3 cups of milk, 8 tbsp of cocoa, etc.).

  • 7 fl oz milk
  • 0.5 oz granulated sugar
  • 4 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2.5 tbsp cornstarch

Steps for creamy cocoa hot chocolate

  • In a nonstick saucepan, sift the unsweetened cocoa powder and the cornstarch to prevent lumps.
Add the granulated sugar and mix the dry ingredients well.
Pour the milk in a thin stream, very slowly, whisking continuously with a hand whisk until the mixture is smooth and lump-free.

Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and continue stirring without stopping.
Bring to a gentle boil and cook until the hot chocolate reaches your preferred thickness (usually a couple of minutes from boiling).

  • Pour immediately into a cup and enjoy your hot chocolate while it’s still steaming hot.

Tips

This hot chocolate is the perfect solution for moments when you crave something sweet but don’t have chocolate bars at home. You can personalize it as you like by adding a pinch of cinnamon for a spiced touch, or a bit of vanilla extract for extra aroma. If you prefer a less sweet version, slightly reduce the amount of granulated sugar; for an indulgent variation, don’t forget a generous dollop of whipped cream on top. Remember to enjoy it hot to fully appreciate its incredible creaminess that will warm your heart in just a few sips.
