Ingredients for the Easy Savory Wreath
- 1 g roll of puff pastry (I used the whole wheat one)
- 400 cooked spinach (well squeezed)
- 6 slices provola
Steps for the Easy Savory Wreath
Preheat the oven to 356°F (static). Unroll the puff pastry on a baking tray covered with its parchment paper.
Place a small bowl or glass with a circumference of about 4 inches in the center of the pastry. This will serve as a guide. (see photo).
Without cutting the pastry, gently press around the base of the bowl to mark the central circumference which will remain intact.
Remove the bowl. Distribute the previously cooked, well-squeezed, and salted spinach along the outer crown of the central circle. Do not put filling in the center.
Distribute the provola cut into small pieces over the spinach. With a wheel cutter or knife, make 8 cuts from the edge of the central circle towards the outside of the pastry, first in a cross (4 cuts) and then diagonally, creating 8 equal wedges.
Gently take each intact wedge of pastry from the central circle and flip it over (like a petal) towards the outside, placing it over the filling of spinach and provola. The filling will be exposed in the center of the petal.Continue this for all 8 wedges, creating the sunflower shape.
Brush the entire surface of the sunflower with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds for a final crunchy touch. (I unfortunately didn’t have them at home, but I usually add them to embellish).
Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the easy savory wreath is beautifully golden and the provola is well melted. Serve hot or warm.
This Easy Savory Pie in the shape of a sunflower is a true triumph on the table, combining the crispness of puff pastry with the soft heart of spinach and provola. A perfect and quick appetizer that will make your holidays unforgettable.
Enjoy your meal and see you in the next recipe!

Storage.
The Easy Savory Crown keeps very well and can be prepared in advance, making it perfect for parties.
After baking: Let the crown cool completely at room temperature.
In the refrigerator: You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, closed in an airtight container or well wrapped in food film to prevent it from absorbing odors.
For serving: To restore the crispiness of the puff pastry, I recommend heating it for a few minutes in the oven (about 10 minutes at 302°F) or in the toaster/air fryer before serving.
