Orange Custard

A delicate orange custard that for me has the taste of childhood because the scent and flavor of the orange remind me of my beloved land, Sicily. Orange custard is excellent as a dessert to enjoy by the spoon or to fill pies or cakes. This cream contains few ingredients and is prepared in no time. A delicious cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs

Steps

These doses are for a pie or cake with a diameter of 9-10 inches

  • Place the milk with the orange zest on the stovetop.

    In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar, add cornstarch and incorporate.

    Gradually add the warm milk, pour all the mixture into the pot, bring to the stove, and let thicken over medium heat.

  • Remove the orange zest and pour in the orange juice, continue stirring for about 2 minutes.

  • Pour the obtained cream into a bowl and cover the surface with cling film until ready to serve.
