Today I felt romantic and took advantage of it. With Valentine’s Day approaching, I thought of this very simple and delicious tart. To make the romantic tart, I used my light and crumbly oil-based shortcrust. I filled it with strawberry jam and enriched the edges with sliced almonds. An easy and quick recipe to prepare. I hope you like this romantic tart.
Let’s start baking…
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Cooking methods: Oven
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2/5 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 baking powder (1 heaping teaspoon)
- 1/3 cup sliced almonds
- 1 1/3 cups strawberry jam
Steps
In a bowl, pour the flour and eggs, and mix with a fork, add the sugar, the teaspoon of baking powder, and stir.
At this point, start adding the oil a little at a time, knead with your hands until a smooth and homogeneous dough is formed. When the shortcrust is ready, wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for about an hour.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin on a sheet of parchment paper and lightly flour if necessary.
Do not roll too thin, form a square with the help of a knife (or your preferred shape), remove the trimmed edges, place the jam on top, and spread well. Roll out the leftovers of the shortcrust, create circles with a glass or a cutter, and create hearts inside. Place on top of the jam.
With the leftover dough, I created narrow strips and laid them along the edges of the tart (like forming a fence).
Bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for 20-25 minutes.
Allow the tart to cool completely before cutting and serving.
