  • 1 roll of pizza base
  • 3.5 oz ham
  • 2 oz pizza mozzarella
  • to taste black olives

Steps for Savory Rolls with Ham and Mozzarella

  • Unroll the pizza base on a work surface, keeping its parchment paper underneath.
    Cover the entire surface with slices of ham, distributing them carefully.
    Cut the pizza mozzarella into very small cubes and sprinkle it over the ham along with the chopped black olives.

    Start to roll the base from the longest side, trying to tighten it well to create a firm roll.
    Cut the cylinder into slices that are no larger than 3/4 inch; this step is crucial, because if they are too thick, they will remain raw inside.

    Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 20-25 minutes, or until you see a nice golden brown exterior.

If you want a stronger taste, try replacing the ham with speck and add some smoked scamorza cheese.
For a Mediterranean touch, you can use sun-dried tomatoes in oil, well-drained, instead of black olives.
If you prefer a vegetarian version, fill the pizza base with pan-fried spinach (well-drained!) and plenty of Parmesan cheese.

Storage
You can store the rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
To make them crispy again, heat them for a few minutes in the oven or air fryer; avoid the microwave because the mozzarella and the dough will become rubbery.
If you want to stock up, you can freeze them once cooked and cooled; just reheat them in a hot oven directly from frozen to have them as fresh.
