Soft Buns

Soft soft buns.

At my house, they are a real hit; everyone loves them, especially my nephew, a true flatbread connoisseur.

They are also ideal for a buffet; you can make them large or small depending on your needs. You can top them with olives, cherry tomatoes, or sausages or leave them plain and sprinkle coarse salt on top. You will fall in love with them.

Ingredients

With these amounts, I made 9 large buns with a diameter of 4 inches and 11 small buns with the diameter of a glass of 2.5 inches.

  • 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp fine salt

Steps

  • In a bowl, pour the flour, the sugar, and the yeast, and mix well.

    Add water, oil, and milk, add the salt when the liquids have been incorporated, and knead well until creating a smooth and non-sticky dough, if necessary add a bit of flour.

    Place the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise for two hours.

  • After the rising time, transfer the risen dough to a floured surface, knead briefly, and then roll it out with the help of a rolling pin. The thickness should be about less than 1/4 inch.

    Place the obtained buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you decide to top the buns with olives and sausages, place the ingredients on top, pressing lightly.

    Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for another hour.

  • After this time, if you have decided not to top them, use your fingers to create dimples on the surface and add coarse salt grains.

    For those with toppings, press the olives or whatever you decided to use slightly to adhere well to the dough.

    Bake in a preheated static oven at 350 °F for 15 minutes, after 7 minutes invert the trays for even baking.
