Water Cake: a softness that conquers.
Once discovered, the water batter never leaves you. This batter is prepared in one minute, without the use of butter, and it’s incredibly soft. I have been making this base for many years, and it never disappoints… everyone loves it, both adults and children. Its preparation is truly a joy! In the “Water Cakes” category you can find many versions dedicated to this “magical” batter. If you have never tried it, I highly recommend experimenting with this water cake because I’m sure its aroma and unique texture will win you over too.
It’s very quick and easy to prepare. Let’s turn on the oven! Come with me and let’s start baking. Happy recipe, Giusi.

Ingredients for the Water Cake
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup milk (Warm)
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup water
Steps for the Water Cake
In a bowl, work the eggs with the sugar, also add the teaspoon of vanilla extract, milk, and oil.
Once these ingredients are mixed, add the flour with the baking powder, previously sifted, mix and then add warm water.
When the mixture is ready, pour it into a 9×4 inch loaf pan, greased and floured or lined with parchment paper. I sprinkled dark chocolate chips on top of the batter.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit in a preheated static oven for 35-40 minutes (after 35 minutes do the toothpick test; if it comes out dry, the cake is ready).
Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
The water cake is ready to enjoy. I hope you liked this recipe, see you next time 😘
