Air Fryer Flatbread. A simple recipe to prepare. Great as a bread substitute or filled with cold cuts and cheese.

The flatbread is a cross between a focaccia and bread. It is as tall as bread but soft like a focaccia.

It’s perfect as a bread substitute to accompany main courses, and is great filled with cold cuts and cheese.

For the cooking, I used the air fryer, which is an excellent tool even in summer, but if you don’t have one, you can bake it in the oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup water

How to Prepare Air Fryer Flatbread

  • In a bowl, add the flour, yeast, salt, sugar, oil, and water.

  • Mix with the spoon to obtain a homogeneous dough. The dough is soft and sticky. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for about 2 hours.

  • After rising, transfer the dough into a slightly oiled mold suitable for air frying. I used an 8-inch mold.

  • Gently oil the surface of the flatbread and add rosemary or oregano. (Whichever you prefer). Let rest for another 30 minutes.

  • Cook in the air fryer at 400°F for 13 minutes. Be sure to check the cooking times according to your fryer.

  • Serve and enjoy.

Storage

The air fryer flatbread keeps well sealed inside a food bag for two days. Alternatively, you can freeze it.

  • Can I bake the flatbread in the oven?

    Yes, you can bake it in a preheated, fan-forced oven at 350°F for about 20-25 minutes.

  • How can I substitute the rosemary or oregano?

    You can flavor it with other herbs of your choice or add coarse salt grains.
