Jam Heart Cookies

Jam Heart Cookies: simple and quick cookies to prepare. Perfect for breakfast and snack time.

The Jam Heart Cookies are simple and quick cookies to prepare. After preparing a ball of shortcrust pastry, you’ll just need to roll it out into a thin layer and cut it with two heart-shaped cutters. Once the cookies are baked, they will need to be filled. I used cherry jam, but you can choose the flavor you prefer. Additionally, you can replace the jam with Nutella or another cream of your choice.

As I mentioned, they are perfect for breakfast and snack time, but you can also serve them as a dessert at the end of a meal. You can even put them in a box and gift them to your friends.

But let’s see right away how to prepare the Jam Heart Cookies.

How to Prepare Jam Heart Cookies

  • In a bowl, add the egg and sugar. Mix with a spoon.

  • Add the milk and oil. Mix with the spoon.

  • Finally, add the flour and baking powder. Start mixing with the spoon, then when you can no longer do so, continue kneading by hand until you get a compact and homogeneous dough.

  • Divide the dough in half. Add a few drops of red food coloring to one part. Work with your hands until you get a uniformly colored dough.

  • Roll out the two doughs with the rolling pin on a lightly floured work surface to a thickness of about one-quarter inch.

  • Cut out the red dough with a heart-shaped cutter. Place the obtained cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Cut the clear dough with a heart-shaped cutter, and then make another heart inside with a smaller cutter. Remove the smaller hearts.

  • Place the cut-out hearts on the same tray as the red cookies and bake in a preheated static oven at 356°F for about 10 minutes. Please check the cooking times according to your oven. (Also bake the smaller clear hearts, they will be delightful shortcrust cookies in the shape of a heart).

  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool.

  • Add a teaspoon of jam to the red cookies, then place the cut-out hearts on top.

  • Cookies ready to be served.
