Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 lemon zest
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup sunflower oil
  • 4.4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • as needed vegetable oil (for frying)
  • as needed sugar (for garnishing)

Tools

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Cookie Cutter
  • 1 Fork
  • 1 Rolling Pin
  • 1 Pot
  • 1 Brown Paper B078GTZLP9

How to Make Soft Donuts without Yeast

  • In a bowl, add the egg and sugar. Mix with a fork.

  • Add the grated zest of an untreated lemon. Mix with the fork.

  • Add the oil and mix.

  • Add and incorporate the milk.

  • Add the flour gradually and mix with the fork.

  • Add the baking powder and mix with the fork.

  • When you can no longer mix with the fork, proceed to knead by hand on a lightly floured surface. You should obtain a firm and homogeneous dough.

  • Roll out the dough with a rolling pin. You should get a sheet about 0.4 inches thick.

  • Put the oil in a pot. Turn on the stove and let the oil heat up to a temperature of 340°F.

  • Cut out the donuts. I used a donut cutter. If you want to check it out, you can find it here. If you don’t have it, you can use a cookie cutter and a plastic bottle cap to make the hole in the center.

  • Rework the excess dough to create more donuts.

  • Fry the mini donuts in plenty of hot oil. When they float to the surface and puff up, turn them. Drain them when they are golden brown.

  • When they are slightly dry but still warm, roll them in sugar.

  • Enjoy your treat.
