Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp butter (melted)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 vial lemon flavoring
- 1 vial vanilla flavoring
- 1 pinch fine salt
- 2/3 cup fresh liquid cream
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/4 cup rice flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tbsp liquor (diluted or orange juice)
- 1 3/4 oz 70% dark chocolate (melted for spiderweb decoration)
Tools
- Kitchen scale
- Smart mold 9 inches
- Bowl
- Electric whisks
- Decorating pen
Steps
Prepare the greased and floured smart mold. Preheat the static oven to 356°F. Pour the whole egg and sugar into the bowl and whisk into a cream using the electric whisks. Add the flavorings and a pinch of salt. Add the cold melted butter and the lukewarm milk.
Add the sifted flour and baking powder and combine using the spatula. Pour the batter into the mold, level it, and bake. Cook for 20 minutes, turn off the oven and let it cool.
In a saucepan, bring the cream and milk to a boil with the sugar. In a small bowl, dissolve the flour with a drop of milk to avoid lumps and as soon as it starts to boil, pour in the dissolved flour. Stir with the whisk and as soon as it begins to thicken, turn off the heat. Pour the cream into a bowl and let it cool slightly. Turn the cake over onto a plate and soak with liquor, water, and sugar or orange juice.
Pour the cream over the cake and level it. After melting the chocolate, decorate by drawing a spiderweb and its spiders with a decorating pen.
Tips
If you’re not confident that the spiderweb will turn out well, try drawing it on parchment paper and after placing the paper upside down, trace over the design with the pen filled with melted chocolate and let it cool. Once solid, remove it from the paper and place it on the cake.
