Air Fryer Chicken Wings

Tasty air fryer chicken wings, crispy and flavorful, very easy to make. A quick and delicious recipe, perfect for dinner or an appetizer with friends… thanks to the air fryer, the meat cooks in no time and with less fat while remaining tender and juicy. The chicken wings are first marinated with oil, lemon, herbs, and spices (you can do this in advance), then coated in breadcrumbs and finally placed in the air fryer… they will be crispy, golden, and very tasty!

Ingredients

  • 1.2 lbs chicken wings
  • 1 tsp spices (to taste)
  • 1 tsp herbs (to taste)
  • as needed breadcrumbs
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • salt

Preparation

  • Clean the chicken wings from any feather residues. If you like, you can remove the skin or leave it as I did.

  • In a bowl, mix a couple of tablespoons of oil, a tablespoon of lemon juice, a pinch of salt, herbs, and spices to taste. I used a mix of Mexican spices, oregano, thyme, and marjoram, but you can use the flavors you prefer.

  • Add the chicken wings and stir to distribute the seasoning (1).

    Cover with plastic wrap and let marinate in the fridge for about an hour (or more, if you have time).

  • Afterward, slightly drain the meat and coat it with breadcrumbs, ensuring it sticks on all sides.

    Place the breaded wings directly in the basket of the air fryer, without overlapping them (2). If you want, you can lightly oil them on the surface, but it’s not necessary.

  • Cook at 375°F for 20 minutes, turning the wings halfway through.

    Adjust the temperature and times according to your air fryer model. If you don’t want to make a mess, you can place a sheet of perforated parchment paper under the meat.

  • The air fryer chicken wings are ready, serve them immediately while they are hot and crispy. You can accompany them with mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, hot sauce, or yogurt sauce.

Advice and Notes

You can customize the seasoning to your liking, if you don’t like spices, you can also use only garlic powder and rosemary.

You can skip the breadcrumbs step, but in this case, leave the skin on, otherwise, the meat might dry out too much.

You can enrich the breading with lemon zest or grated Parmesan cheese.
