Baked Breaded Feta Sticks

Baked breaded feta sticks, crunchy and very tasty… a simple idea to serve with an aperitif, or as a vegetarian main course. The recipe is very quick, just cut the feta, lightly oil it and coat it with herb-seasoned breadcrumbs… the sticks can be baked in the oven or cooked in an air fryer, they will be soft inside but with a flavorful crust outside. Try them yourself, they are delicious!

Ingredients

  • 7 oz feta
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • herbs (thyme, rosemary, mint, oregano, or others)
  • 1 pinch sweet paprika (to taste)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • honey (to taste, for garnishing)

Tools

  • Air Fryer
  • Tray
  • Paper Towels

Preparation

  • After removing it from the packaging, dry the feta well with paper kitchen towels.

    Cut the block in half crosswise, then divide each half into 6 strips. You will get 12 sticks in total, all of the same size.

  • On a tray, mix the breadcrumbs with the paprika and a handful of dried herbs: thyme, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, as you like.

  • Lightly oil the sticks with extra virgin olive oil, then coat them in the seasoned breadcrumbs (1).

    Place the sticks in the air fryer basket (2). You can use perforated parchment paper if you wish, but it’s not necessary.

  • Set the temperature to 392°F and cook for 6-7 minutes.

    If you prefer to use the convection oven, place the sticks on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake at 392°F for 12-13 minutes.

  • Baked breaded feta sticks are ready, serve them while hot or warm, adding a drizzle of honey on top if desired.

Tips and Notes

When the sticks are cooked, handle them gently as the feta, having become soft, could break.

You can use classic or wholemeal breadcrumbs.

You can season with herbs or spices to taste. You can also add sesame seeds or garlic powder.

The cooking times vary depending on your model of fryer (or oven).
