Simple and tasty cabbage rolls filled with ground meat, a classic recipe suitable for the winter season, excellent as a main course. The preparation is very easy, you just need to choose large enough cabbage leaves (usually the outer ones), steam or boil them quickly, and fill them with a flavorful filling of meat, bread, and eggs. In this case, I cooked the rolls in a pan to keep them softer, but they can also be baked in the oven if desired. Try this delicious recipe!

Ingredients
- 10 leaves cabbage
- 14 oz ground pork (or mixed)
- 1 egg (large)
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 slices white bread
- parsley
- 1/4 cup white wine
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- pepper

Preparation
Wash the cabbage leaves and steam them for about 10 minutes. Alternatively, boil them in slightly salted water for 1 minute, until soft.
Then let them dry on a towel.
Put the ground meat in a bowl, season with salt and pepper, and add the egg. Blend the bread along with the garlic and parsley, then add the mixture to the meat (1).
Mix well to combine the ingredients, you’ll get a mixture similar to meatballs.
Take the cabbage leaves and with a knife remove the toughest part of the rib. Spread the filling on each leaf (2), then fold to form the rolls (3).
Place the cabbage rolls in a pan greased with a bit of oil. Sear them for 1-2 minutes, then deglaze with the wine and season with salt on top.
Lower the heat, moisten the bottom with a little hot water (or broth) and let cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning the rolls a couple of times. Cooking time depends on size.
The cabbage rolls with meat are ready, serve them hot, drizzling with the cooking sauce.
Tips and Notes
You can use pork, beef, or mixed meat. You can add some sausage if you like more intense flavors.
I recommend steaming the leaves, as they will be more flavorful.
You can season the filling with your choice of spices, or add some grated parmesan cheese.
