Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 200 ml béchamel
- 2.5 oz smoked bacon
- Grated Grana Padano
- parsley
- black pepper
Tools
- Baking Dish
- Small Pot
- Pan
Preparation
Immerse the eggs in a small pot with cold water, bring to a boil on the stovetop and cook them for 7-8 minutes. They should be hard-boiled but not overly dry.
Cool the eggs, shell them and cut them in half.
Place the bacon cubes in a pan and brown them for a couple of minutes, without adding any additional fat.
Take a baking dish, grease it with a little béchamel and place the hard-boiled eggs in it (1).
Add the bacon and cover with the remaining béchamel. Finally, sprinkle with some grated Grana and a grind of pepper (2). I didn’t add salt, given the presence of bacon and Grana.
Put the dish in a fan oven at 392°F and gratinate for about 15 minutes. Adjust time and temperature according to your oven’s characteristics.
At the end, remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley if desired.
Gratinated eggs are ready to be served… Enjoy your meal!
Tips and Notes
You can also cook the gratinated eggs in single-serving cocottes.
Do not exceed the boiling time of the eggs in water because they will continue cooking in the oven.
FAQ
Can I omit the bacon?
Sure, you can omit it entirely, or replace it with diced cooked ham or speck.
Can I prepare the dish in advance?
I suggest preparing it on the spot, but you can hard-boil the eggs a few hours in advance and keep them in the refrigerator.
