- breadcrumbs
- Grated Grana Padano (to taste)
- garlic powder (to taste)
- herbs (thyme, rosemary, or others)
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- pepper
Tools
- Baking Tray
- Bowl
- Pot
- Strainer
Preparation
Peel the celery root using a knife. Rinse to remove any soil residues, then cut it into cubes not too small (about 3/4-1 inch per side).
Boil the cubes in salted boiling water for about 5 minutes, drain and let them cool.
Transfer the celery root into a bowl (1), add salt, pepper, season with herbs and garlic powder. Drizzle with a bit of oil and mix well.
Now add a couple of tablespoons of breadcrumbs and mix to distribute it evenly.
Take a small baking tray and line it with parchment paper. Arrange the celery root cubes, avoiding too much overlap.
Sprinkle on top with a little grated Grana (if desired) and with a bit more breadcrumbs. Drizzle with more oil if necessary (2).
Place the tray in a fan oven at 392°F and bake for about 20 minutes, until the celery is tender and a light crust has formed.
The celery root gratin is ready, serve it hot or warm as a tasty side dish!

You can enrich the seasoning of the celery root with herbs or spices to taste: curry, chili pepper, cumin seeds, marjoram, oregano, etc.
You can gratinate the celery root in an air fryer instead of an oven. Just use a tray of the appropriate size.
