Notes and Tips
You can use tomato sauce instead of paste, and you can increase or decrease the quantity according to your taste. If you prefer, you can omit the tomato altogether.
You can add a clove of garlic to the pot where you open the mussels.
You can adjust the dish’s thickness to your liking, depending on whether you like your pasta more dry or more like a soup.
You can use different types of short pasta: I used the classic tubetti, but mixed pasta, mezze penne, or mezzi paccheri are also great.
Be careful not to add too much salt, as the liquid released by the mussels is already quite salty.
