Ingredients
- 1 roll puff pastry
- Half savoy cabbage (about 12-14 oz)
- 1 sausage
- 3.5 oz stracchino
- breadcrumbs
- 1 clove garlic (to taste)
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
Tools
- Pie pan 11 inches
- Pan
- Skillet
Preparation
Clean and wash the cabbage, then cut it into thin strips.
Heat a large pan with a drizzle of oil and a garlic clove, if desired.
Add the cabbage, a pinch of salt, and a couple of tablespoons of hot water (1). Cover and cook until tender.
Peel the sausage, crumble it, and brown it in a separate skillet without adding oil (2).
When the cabbage and sausage are cooked, open the puff pastry and place it in the pie pan.
Fold it along the edge and pierce it with a fork. Sprinkle the base with a handful of breadcrumbs to absorb excess moisture from the cabbage.
Spread the cabbage, sausage, and stracchino broken into pieces by hand over the puff pastry (3).
Place the savory pie in a ventilated oven at 375°F and bake for about 30 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and dry at the base. Adjust the times according to your oven.
The savory pie with cabbage, sausage, and stracchino is ready, great as an appetizer or for a rustic dinner!
Tips and Notes
You can use shortcrust pastry instead of puff pastry, or a homemade savory pie base (here is my recipe).
You can replace the cabbage with white cabbage.
