Ingredients
- 11.29 oz chicken breast
- 1 broccoli
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 pinch chili pepper (to taste)
- lemon zest
- Half teaspoon cornstarch
- extra virgin olive oil
- salt
- aromatic herbs (to taste)
Tools
- Skillet or wok
- Bowl
- Cutting board
Preparation
Clean the chicken breast by removing any tendons and small bones. Cut it into chunks and place it in a bowl.
Add a drizzle of oil, the grated zest of half a lemon, a small handful of dry herbs (to taste), a pinch of salt, and the cornstarch.
Mix well and let it marinate while you attend to the broccoli.
Separate the broccoli into florets, wash them under running water, and drain.
Take a large skillet, pour in a little oil, add the garlic and chili pepper. Sauté for a few moments and add the florets (1).
Season with salt, dampen the bottom with a little hot water, and cook the broccoli until they are tender but still firm.
Add the chicken chunks and stir for a minute or two over high heat (2).
Lower the heat slightly and cook the meat, stirring frequently (3). It will only take a few minutes, do not overcook, or the chicken will become dry.
Chicken breast with broccoli is ready to be served! If you like, you can season with half a tablespoon of soy sauce and add some sesame seeds.
Tips and Notes
You can also use other parts (boneless) of the chicken, increasing the cooking time if necessary.
You can adapt the recipe to cauliflower or Romanesco broccoli.
The cornstarch helps bind the sauce of the meat with the broccoli. If you don’t have it, you can substitute it with flour, or even omit it.
