Strawberry and chocolate cake, an easy dessert to make, soft and delicious, with fresh strawberries in pieces. Ingredients
- 14 oz strawberries (net of waste)
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 7 tbsp butter (soft)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 eggs (medium)
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 oz dark chocolate (chopped)
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence (to taste)
- 1 tbsp liquor (to taste)
- brown sugar (for the surface)

- Cake Pan 9-10 inches
- Food Processor or Stand Mixer
- Mixing Bowl
- Parchment Paper
Preparation
Wash the strawberries, remove the stem and cut them into pieces. Let them dry on a paper towel and set aside.
Mix the soft butter pieces with the sugar, until you get a cream. You can use the stand mixer, a food processor or a wooden spoon and a bowl, if you want to knead by hand.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix them in.
Sift the flour, the baking powder, the cocoa and mix them. Add the powders to the batter, alternating them with the milk.
If you wish, add liquor and mix. You will get a rather thick and sticky batter.
Add the chopped chocolate and mix it in with a spoon.
Line the cake pan with parchment paper (or butter and flour it), pour in the batter and level it with a spatula.
Arrange the strawberries on the cake (it doesn’t matter if they overlap slightly) and sprinkle with a touch of brown sugar if desired (1).
Place the dessert in a preheated oven at 350°F and bake for 45-50 minutes (2).
Adjust the time according to your oven, checking with a toothpick to ensure the cake is cooked in the center.
The strawberry and chocolate cake is ready, let it cool completely before slicing.
If you don’t consume it the same day, I recommend storing it in a cool place or in the refrigerator.
Tips and Notes
You can add some strawberry pieces inside, mixing them into the batter.
If you don’t want to use the liquor (the alcohol evaporates during cooking), add another tablespoon of milk.
You can use chocolate chips instead of chopped dark chocolate.
