Steps for Quick Puff Pastry Croissants with Ready-made Pastry

  • mini puff pastry croissants
  • Unroll a rectangular puff pastry roll that we’ve left out of the fridge for a couple of minutes. Cut it in half lengthwise. Then divide it into triangles, as seen in the picture. If round, divide it into 8 wedges or more if you want smaller croissants.

  • Fill each triangle at the base with half a teaspoon of strawberry jam or whatever you prefer, even Nutella if you’re indulgent, or maybe with a savory filling for a fancy aperitif. Use less filling on the smaller triangles to ensure the filling is well sealed inside.

  • Roll up the triangles, starting from the base, spreading the two tips at the base outward to seal the filling inside the puff pastry, and gradually roll towards the tip.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 25 minutes, spaced apart on a baking tray, placed on the parchment paper in which the pastry is wrapped. Bake until our mini easy and quick puff pastry croissants filled with jam or Nutella, or even with a savory filling, are cooked, golden, and puffed. Let them cool a bit before enjoying. I baked them in my new Indesit oven.

  • If you like, before baking, you can brush them with egg or milk, and sprinkle with sugar, even brown sugar, or salt, for a savory and shiny version.

  • I made these puff pastry croissants right after lunch, before washing the dishes, I had such a craving for something sweet that I thought of using that roll of puff pastry that I always keep in the fridge, and I decided to make puff pastry croissants, filled with strawberry jam since I already had it open in the fridge, but you can use anything to fill them. They’re a great idea to satisfy that sudden craving for something fancy or sweet, they take 5 minutes to prepare, and just the time to wash the dishes, they’re ready to be taken out of the oven, a delightful idea when you have 2 ingredients, not needing more, and 5 minutes to prepare them.
